Ratan Jot is famous for its skin clearing abilities and hence it is also used in several face masks, facial cleansing products, etc. Alkanet root can protect the skin from various sorts of infections. Being anti-inflammatory in nature, alkanet is widely used to treat and heal burn scars.

Ratanjot when applied externally does not have any side effects but when we add it as a food colorant we have to be very careful with the amount we use because ratanjot contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids which is very harmful if consumed more than a certain amount.

Alkanet root, better known as Ratan Jot, is traditionally used to add colour to Indian food. It is the original natural food colouring that gives the famous Kashmiri dish Rogan Josh its signature red colour. Kashmiri Pandits use a dried herb called Ratan Jot to add a pleasing red colour to their dishes.

Shelf life: Its good in taste and benefits for two to three years if keep in airtight container and also keep in sunlight for 15 min every month to prevent moisture & to retain its quality.
